The Roost Kickstarter campaign launched in June 2013, and connected with 2448 people who were looking to improve their relationship with their laptop. Looking to raise $9300 to purchase the raw materials for the first small batch of Roosts, the campaign raised nearly $200,000 within 30 days.
The Roost Story on Kickstarter:
The Roost is manufactured using high-precision industrial capabilities common to the aerospace, medical, and defense industries. Including laser cutting and depth-etching, thin layered carbon fiber riveting, Mil-Spec ceramic coatings, and Type-III hard anodizing.
Designed in Denver, CO
Roost World Headquarters is in the heart of Denver's RiNo District. RiNo is home to hundreds of creative businesses, including architects, art galleries, ceramicists, designers, furniture makers.
An engineer in a previous life (...yet probably always an engineer), the inventor of the Roost was looking for a way to comfortably work from his laptop. He found that working from a laptop--e.g. an ergonomic disaster--meant wrecking his back, neck, wrists, hands, and, thus, livelihood. Finding that nothing existed to meet this need, the inner engineer piped up: "Build it." "the Roost" is the over-engineered off-spring of that big necessity.
